Hi

As a first time traveller to Europe (Vienna in July 05) I was wondering about
booking a flight. Is there a time period that airlines would start discounting
prices or are those I find now the best they will be? I'd like to do it soon,
but would wait if
chance they would go down.

Thanks in advance.

Paul

You say where you are going, but not where you are coming from.

A general rule says: the cheapest quota of economy tickets will be sold
first. If oil prices come down very much then perhaps tickets will be sold
cheaper. Anyways trans Atlantic flights from major airports are pretty
reasonably priced today. Rigorous fine tuning hardly saves much money.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Sorry about a key point to include (getting old I guess). I will be leaving
from Los Angeles to Vienna.

Thanks again.

Not exactly - you could book the flight now and you would not get the best
rate available prior to next July. At some point there will be a "sale" for
fares next summer and that is when you must jump in or you will lose. Fares
will only increase as the season approaches and barring some miscalculation
in travel demand there will be no more reductions.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
