Before I get into the the breakfast buffet,
lets start at the beginning of the story.

Some time ago we (sweetheart & myself) joined
the Palms players club for some freebee, about a
year went by and we received a mailing for a $10
matchplay plus some slot play. Using their offer
I lost $80 in a seven play blackjack machine and the
mailings started coming in several times a week
and emails. If you want to give them your cell
number they will even text you freebees not
available through mailings or emails.

The last mailing has 30 free pulls, max coin in
the $1 megabucks. These free pulls are 2 pulls
a day on 15 different days of February.

So far we had $15, $30, $15 & $6 wins on the
megabucks machine, which we promptly cashed out
instead of playing to extinction. Also on this mailing
are 5 periods of $10 free slot play, each period
running about 4 days duration. My sweetheart plays
the duces wild and I keep a running count so that
we are able to cash out when the $10 is used up
and keep the profits which has been between $7.50
and $12.50 each time.

Also during the month they have free card swipes
for prizes, where everyone is a winner.

So finally to the Bistro Buffet, one of our coupons
were $10 off the Bistro Buffet. I had posted twice
about the dinner buffet on a positive note. So
I was expecting good things and was I dissappointed
with the breakfast buffet.

Since the place was empty and we had no wait we
ordered western omelets, which were big, but not special.
The rest of the stations were awful. Belgium waffles
about 4 square inches, only silver dollar pancakes,
hash browns that looked like recycled McDonalds
hash browns. They didn't have bagels and this is a
breakfast buffet, but they did have good size french
toast . The bill for two came to $6 and change using
the $10 coupon. We got what we paid for, but if you
are going to pay full price go across the street to the
Gold Coast, use the 2/1 American Casino Guide coupon
and don't forget to use your $5 matchplay. I may try this
during the week after my visit to the Palms and will make
a post.

ah, Doc --- I have to say that when you posted about a positive buffet
experience at the Palms I was kind of worried about your tastes. This
post sets that right again.

The wife and I -love- breakfast buffets and after a several month hiatus
from the Bistro we decided to try it again, going on several months ago.
We'd tried the lunch right after the conversion and thot it sucked, but
gave the Palms the benefit of the doubt and decided to give it another
try. All I can say is -major- disappointment. The first turn off was
seeing sausage links literally floating in about 2" of grease. Once we
got what we wanted and returned to the table we both noted that
everything, and I mean everything, tasted the same. It was a truly
horrid "meal". At that point we wondered how that much effort could be
put into a place and have it come out so wrong. They could (and do) send
us free, or even pay us, but we wouldn't eat in there again.

We're fixing to head down in an hour or two, where we'll have breakfast
in the cafe' --- there the food is actually pretty decent.

Dr.Baf

Your acount of your experience at the Rio breakfast Barfet mirrors my own
experience right down to suggesting going across the street. I did not
think the dinner buffet at the Rio was much better however.

Last visit we went out of our way to drive to the Palms for the 2 for 1
Tuesday breakfast buffet. After parking and walking in we were turned away
for being 5 minutes late. They were not pleasant at all.
