I heard the prediction on cable tv very recently (maybe yesterday),
and so please take its accuracy given that caveat:

The hdqs is to be Atlanta

The surviving name is to be Delta

Such may or may not be posted at their website

Yeah, it appears to be a poltical non-starter, as both airlines
have ....uh...loyalty obligations.

Yet, many investors & others concerned about airline industry
solvency, are pushing for merger.

Do you know what complexity is, boys & girls?

NWA, Delta near final phase of merger talks

Their boards are expected to meet next week, and Gov. Tim
Pawlenty seeks word that NWA's hub and headquarters will remain
in Minnesota.
....

In a letter sent to the chief executives of both airlines,
Pawlenty reminded them that Northwest received about $445
million in loans and lease concessions from the Metropolitan
Airports Commission (MAC) in exchange for signing agreements
that require Northwest to maintain a hub and headquarters in
Minnesota.

"We trust and expect that these commitments will be honored,"
Pawlenty wrote. The governor added, though, that he is ready to
give new aid if the airlines will honor that prior pledge.
