I am currently in Puerto Rico, with a prepaid calling card from Sam's.
I tried the 800 number and I just get a busy-like signal. Then I tried
the AT&T direct Access number and I get the same thing.
(800) 603-7403
and then (800) CALL ATT , still a busy signal.
Is this resort blocking calling cards?
Is there another number I should call in Puerto Rico?

If you're calling from your hotel room, the hotel phone system may be set
to block all long distance and toll-free 800 numbers. I've encountered
this a few times over the years. Call the front desk to check if they
are blocking all but local calls. They can set it so your room phone
isn't blocked.

Have you tried a public pay phone to use your card?

I once had a Sprint Calling Card. When I dialed the 800 number I got a
computer tone. Then I followed the directions on the back of the sprint
card.

Look in the handbook by the inroom phone at your hotel. There are probably
instructions on how to obtain an outside line.

Once you get an outside line, try dialing your calling card access number.
Also, read the fine print. It may only be good for use in the continental
us, not the US Virgin Is, Puerto Rico, Alaska, Hawaii, or US Posessions.
