I'm having a bit of trouble finding information on
what is and is not included in the cruise price, and
for those things not included, what the prices are!
I don't want to think that we're getting a great deal,
then end up spending $2k on "extras".
For example, are soft drinks included?
I know alcoholic beverages are not included, but
what are typical drink prices?
What about spa services? (massage, facials, manicures, etc..)
Anyone know of a good website that has this kind of information?
TIA,
Amy

Soft drinks are not included, but Tea, coffee, ice tea, punch and hot
chocolate are included.
Drink prices are equal to or perhaps a bit lower than mainland. Soft ice
cream is included but not hard ice cream except during meals.
Anything off the ship is not included, including tours.
tips are not included.
Bingo is not included.

You've already received pretty complete responses, but I'll just add
my 2¢
All that's included in your fare is your cabin, your meals (unless you
choose a specialty added-charge restaurant) and entertainment on board
(show lounges, disco, piano bar, "newlywed game" and that sort of
thing), use of workout equipment, sauna, steam room in gym.
Open your wallet for shore excursions, soda, alcohol, casino gambling,
bingo, photos taken by the ship's photog, spa services, exercise
classes (some may be included, but the trend seems to be towards
charging), shopping on board and tips.
Unless you gamble a lot, I think it would be tough to rack up a $2k
bill on extras. We usually spend around $500 as a couple on on-board
expenses which will include one, maybe two excursions, a few games of
bingo and some drinks (bottles of wine at dinner). For the casino, I
bring cash - don't even want to start charging casino play money to my
credit card...uh uh.
Have a good time.

Can gratuities be prepaid or by prepay, do you mean added on to your
"sign and sail" account? Either way, it's an expense that's not
included in the basic Carnival cruise fare.

Hi Lee,
Gratuities can be pre-paid through your travel agent for Carnival
cruises. Any more questions, just ask!

I understand that CCL will allow an upfront payment ($99 for 7 days)
that means there will be no tips automatically added to receipts.
Cabin stewards and the alike are up to the pax.

The following is not included with approximate prices listed.
Sodas ($1.50 + 15% tip, although a soda card can be purchased for unlimited
sodas, except from room service, for $19.95 to $34.95 + 15% tip depending on
the length of your cruise.)
Alcoholic drinks ($2.00 to $5.00 + 15% tip)
Spa treatments ($20 to $120 + 15% tip)
Shore tours ($20 to $150)
Ship-to-shore phone calls ($5.95/minute)
Tips ($3.50/day for your cabin steward, $5.50/day for your dining room
service team, and $0.75/day for the alternative dining room staff. This can
be adjusted up or down at your discression).
Some athletic classes ($10.00)
Self-service laundry ($1.00 per load to wash and $1.00 per load to dry, plus
soap)
Dry cleaning ($1.00 to $5.00 per item)
Casino chips can be charged to your card for a 3% service fee (minimum
purchase $50), which is oddly cheaper than the ATM machine if you charge
less than $170 in chips (the ATM fee is $5.00).
Gambling and souvenirs are not included with your fare, of course.

I don't purchase shore excursions..I am not a heavy drinker..I didn't use the
spa..
My onboard bill was $232.00... $80 of which were gratuities that are
automatically charged to your onboard account.
Some soda.. a drink at dinner....the balance were internet fees.
8 nights.. Carnival Legend.
Oh... by the aft pool on the Legend.. around 3-330pm.. a couple of days.. there
was free hardpacked icecream. They just don't announce it.

It wasn't included because you paid EXTRA for it.
Except in some cases, tips are not included in the cruise price.
Anything "prepaid" was not included in the cruise price. If you "prepay"
anything call it a luxury item. JDR >> Stay informed about: Carnival - what's not included? |

There have been a "few" Carnival cruises in which tips were included in
the price.
It was in the advertisement.
This was a 5 night cruise from New Orleans last September(14 months
ago). >> Stay informed about: Carnival - what's not included? |

Chrissy,
If you are referring to the 15% that is added to bar charges, I believe that
you are misinformed. Carnival will allow payment of gratuities to Cabin
Steward, et al, to be added to your onboard account, but, to my understanding,
there are no provisions to allow for any adjustment to the 15% add on to bar
charges.

You may be right but a friend went on the Legend and paid a $80 charge
for "gratuities" in advance but I do not know for sure what that
covered. I asked and my recollection (faulty) was he said there were
no grats added to his bar bill b/c of it. He got an all inclusive
price that included P?T, cabin, ins and gratuities.
