Surely you don't think that the original poster will actually come back
and read this thread?

Sure, why not? He might think someone has questions for him to answer. At
any rate, it makes more sense to assume he would be back.

If the guy is sincere, it's a good thing.
The Zagreb city centre has a dearth of available hotels.
The Hotel Dubrovnik is great, but it's about all you'll find.
Everything else is at least 5 minutes away.

And who knows? Maybe the guy will throw in an erotic massage.

Don't know, but private rooms have always been great in Crotia thus far-
though I haven't been to Zagreb.

Yhere is Hotel Ilica in Ilica street, 5 minutes' walk from Jelacic
Square.
The hotel is privately owned, the rooms are very kitch, but the price
is reasonable (500 Kn for a double per night, at least that was the
price last year when we stayed there). The tram stop is right in front
of the hotel. We left the car at the hotel's parking lot and walked/
took the tram everywhere from there.

Nothing wrong with having fun with a spammer.

Why should you think my post was directed to him/her? Like
Mike, I was making a joke suggested by the OP's mis-spelling
of "cheap". (I try not to be judgemental about
mis-spellings - particularly by those for whom English is
not the first language - but sometimes the temptation for
misinterpretation into humour can be overwhelming!)

Sorry. It just seemed to me as if you were making fun of him for not writing
perfect English.

Hotel Ilica looks really nice. Good prices, too. I'd have stayed there
if I was aware of it. Hotel Dubrovnik is a huge international-style
hotel. It was clean and comfortable but didn't have any character.
