Hi all,

We're planning to visit Sydney in early Nov 2003 and would like
recommendations for serviced apartments located in the city centre. As
we're travelling with our parents and a toddler (4 adults + 1 child), we
hope to find an apartment which is close to amenities such as a
supermarket/convenience store, and within easy walking distance of major
attractions in the city.

TIA,
Ronnie (in Singapore)

Check out The York. We were there in June 2001 and it was excellent. It is 2
blocks from a supermarket, overlooks the Harbour Bridge, and is in walking
distance to The Rocks, Circular Quay and the Opera House.

I stayed in The York Apartment Hotel in 1998 and it was superb.
Beautiful apartment with a staggering view over the Harbor that
was in walking distance of the Opera House, Darling Harbor and
next to a subway station and convenience store (in the station precinct)

Prices for a 2 bedroom apartment at that time of year are around
AUD 260 per night

To get an overview of what is available, try these sites:

<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.wotif.com" target="_blank">www.wotif.com</a>

<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.needitnow.com.au" target="_blank">www.needitnow.com.au</a>

<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.au.lastminute.com" target="_blank">www.au.lastminute.com</a>

Choose Sydney CBD or any other locale. From there you should get broad range
of hotels and individual rating, indication of last-minute rates, location
of hotel and facilities available.

Good luck.

If being in the CBD is not a priority I'd recommend you try Manly -
something like the Grand Esplanade might be perfect - or one of the many
beachfront one - ideal for a toddler (and parent) to unwind.
