I promised myself that I will write about my horrible experience at Colonial Bay Resort in Hunstville.
1. The owners did not find it necessary to have light on their sign, and we missed the resort, because the sign was not visible enough. We drove almost 20 km further that we were supposed to, and when I called resort, very nervous female voice ( I will find out later that this was the owner!), was telling me: Listen to me, while raising her voice, as if it was my fault that I could not see non visible sign in the night!
2. Upon check in, instead of apologizing for the inconvenience, she tried to despute the price I was paying, saying that that price only includes 2 persons ( it was 3 of us, including my 12 years old son). The owner claimed that I was quoted 99.00 plus tax for two. In the printed confirmation it did not give the breakdown ( and I admit my mistake that I did not call as soon as I received the confirmation to clear this out).
As I booked this almost 2 months in advance, the room rate at the time I booked was 89.00 plus 10.00 extra person. I booked it with the husband, and not it was the wife who was disputing this. I said I did not want to pay extra 20 dollars. She said: "I cannot believe that 20.00 is too much." Well, if I booked it with one price, why would I pay more now?I said. She said: "OK. But we are barely making any money here!" As if it was my fault. FIX YOUR SIGN LADY, AND YOU WILL MAY BE ATTRACT MORE GUESTS.
3. There was not hot water at all times, and there was no hot water second night at all. Luckily we checked out next morning.
4. There was no bed linen for the sofa bed where my son was supposed to sleep, so I had to improvise, scared to go and ask angry owner for the bed linen (remebering the way she threw on me extra towels when I refused to pay extra 20.00, and answering yes to my question if there is bed linen for the sofa bed)
I will never never go back there. She spoiled part of my vacation. I will not forgive her, and I will tell this story over and over again. She does not deserve anything better.
