My husband and I would like to go to an AI next April. We live in the
mid-Atlantic, and would prefer not to spend a long, long time travelling.
I've been to Jamaica (albeit, nearly twenty years ago!) and I loved the
beaches there, as well as the lushness of the country.
We are in our mid-40's and early 50's. My husband plays golf and would like
to scuba, but we are not particularly athletic. We aren't party animals,
but a nice tropical drink while we read on the beach sounds very nice. Our
main goal on this vacation is to reconnect as a couple, and re-energize
before going back to the rat race, but it is also nice to be in a place
where you might meet other, similar, people.
We are considering Couples and Swept Away in Negril. Any comments on
either? Does anyone have another suggestion?
Thanks in advance.

I would suggest Sans Souci Resort & Spa in Ocho Rios. We spent our
honeymoon there in 2001 when it was part of the SuperClubs Grand Lido
chain. We loved it so much that we've been back twice! (once since it
went independent) Very laid back & romantic, excellent food, excellent
service, very lush & tropical. Golf & Scuba are included. Exactly what
you are looking for

I would suggest Couple Negril. My wife & I went there in March and had
a great time. We're in our 50's. It's very laid back and peacefull. You
can lay on the beach all day and drink or go scuba diving, water
skiing, sailing, or golfing. The food was great and there's no pressure
to participate in any sports. Couples Negril has a clothing optional
beach unlike Couples Swept Away, if you want to give that a try. There
is a good message board on Couples website couples.com where you can
learn more. >> Stay informed about: Couples? Swept Away? Somewhere else? |

Thanks, Dave. My husband made arrangements yesterday to do just that. I'm
very excited! >> Stay informed about: Couples? Swept Away? Somewhere else? |

While Negril is my favorite destination in Jamaica, if golf is a
priority then you may want to consider Grand Lido Braco.
GLB has a 8 hole course onsite and is close to the SuperClubs course
in Runaway Bay (greens fees included there too). GLB is a very nice
place!
Negril is wonderful, but the Negril Hills golf course needs some work
I thought. I did not enjoy the golf in Negril as much.
If the golf is not a big deal then Couples Swept Away or Couples
Negril would be my choice. I would probably lean toward Couples
Negril since there is nude beach as an option there and we enjoy that
as well.
Have fun!
