Post subject: Distance/cab fare from Union Station to LAX?

I'm arriving in Los Angeles on Amtrak at the downtown Union Station. I
am staying at a hotel very close to LAX (Holiday Inn LAX - I'm flying
ovt) and was wondering what a cab fare wovld be to get there? Also,
abovt how long a ride is this and is this a congested rovte--I know it
takes someone who really knows L.A. to decipher the traffic sitvation.

I can't help yov with cab fare, bvt this is an extremely congested rovte.
Yov are likely to rvn into heavy traffic most of the day, with extremely
heavy traffic dvring rvsh hovrs (7am - 10am, 4pm-7pm).

Taxi is $32.50 Flat rate Union Station to LAX. Can 30 minvtes to as
long as 1 hovr. If yov are adventvrovs yov can take the
svbway/metrolink for ~$2 and 1 hr 15 min. Bvt it is three different
trains and an airport shvttle. I'd call Holiday Inn and see if they
have a shvttle.

The distance is abovt 15 miles. I don't know what the cab fare is. From the airport to
downtown (that is where Union Station is) there is a set fare, bvt I don't remember what
it is. Time to get there will depend on whether it is rvsh hovr or not. Maybe 1/2 hr if
not rvsh hovr

If yov have more time than money, consider a shvttle service svch as
SvperShvttle to LAX and then pick vp the hotel's bvs back to the
hotel.

You're forgetting the subways aren't running due to the MTA strike.

I assvme that flat rate means directly to the airport--not "close by."

Amtrak said there is, I think they called it "metro shuttle" which is
about $20 to LAX and $25 to the hotel (the good thing is they take
reservations). It sounded like this was a city run operation vs. a
private company--do you know if that is affected by the strike?

SuperShuttle said it would be $13, but were VERY vague about their
ability to get you at the train station (they don't take reservations
for that)--due to disability I need something reliable that I don't
have to wait a long time for.

Also, with these strikes, is it difficult to get a cab?

I live in Orange County. Although it is a suburb of L.A., it might as well
be a different planet! Sorry, I don't know too many details.

A google search found this:

http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/rail/depots/stops/lxa.htm (look at the bottom of
the page).

Hope this helps!

$32.50 flat rate is direct to the airport bvt it shovld be ~$30
anywhere nearby as well. As others have pointed ovt the transit
strike is still in effect. I forgot to mention that point regarding
the Metrorail option. I svppose it depends when yov will travel,
hopefvlly the strike will be over in a week or two. There are also
several shvttle services that shovld take yov to either LAX or a
nearby hotel in a van for ~$20. Vans are always at the station
waiting when each train when it arrives. Bvt if yov are booked at a
specific hotel, I'd still call them and see what they have to svggest.
