LVA reports that the "Rat Pack" show at the Greek Isles is moving
downtown to the Plaza beginning March 1st.

Downtown has been offering more entertainment options in recent months,
with Rich Little and "Defending the Caveman" at the Golden Nugget, and
a Beatles tribute show and various live bands at the Four Queens'
Canyon Club. The latter has also just added the comedy/mystery dinner
show "Marriage Can Be Murder," six nights a week at 6pm.

None of these are top-caliber Vegas shows, of course, but it's nice to
see the downtown casinos giving visitors something to do besides
gamble. The Golden Nugget should try to bring in some quality,
bigger-name musical acts like those at Boulder Station, the Orleans and
other locals venues. In the meantime, they could do a lot worse than
invite Lon Bronson's band back for some shows, and give them the
promotion they deserve.

Walt: Have you seen or heard anything about the Beatles tribute show at
the FQ? I looked at the TicketMaster site and they don't carry tickets
for it.

I will be staying at the ElCo 2/19 through 2/22 and might be interested
in going to see the show, if it's any good.

Last time we were there I heard a couple of folks say Caveman was terrible.
Anyone here seen it?

It sucked when I saw Rob Becker do it fifteen years ago. I hope I
don't get sued for copyright infringement, but here's the text of the
show in its entirety: "Men and women are different. Men like sports
and grunting. Women like shopping and crying."

Defending the Caveman is fair at best. It is not terrible but not that
good.

Rat Pack is OK entertainment-nothing to write home about. The one who plays
Dean Martin used to be Elvis several years ago.

Shows to totally avoid in my opinion are:

Fashionistas
Little Legends
Crazy Girls

And sad to say: Rich Little is tired and most of material is the old stuff.

Shows to see which are commonly easy to get at 2x1 and really good are:

Country Legends
Bobby Slayton
Larry Jones

Comedy Club at Tropicana
Vinnie Futuro
George Wallace
Scintas
Steve Wyrick

I haven't come across any actual reviews yet. Here are a couple of
story links...

http://www.lvrj.com/neon/13702777.html

http://www.lvrj.com/living/13495622.html

.... and a Youtube clip from when they were called "Fab Forever" as
opposed to the current "4 Lads From Liverpool"...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yp3jdEjTT-8

Some other clip links will come up when you watch that one. Some sound
pretty good, others not so good.

They're playing six days a week (not eight) so it shouldn't be hard to
get tickets at the Four Queens. I'd check the Tix4Tonight outlet, too,
at the front of the 4Q. (Not likely, but since you're right there
anyway...)

Not me, but then it sounds like something I'm not interested in. Nor
would I be inclined to go see Rich Little. The knock on him appears to
be his dated material; nearly all the impressions he does are of dead
people.

At least downtown is trying different kinds of shows. Maybe the "Rat
Pack" will work at the Plaza. Even that's an upgrade from the Greek
Isles, which gives the real Greek isles a bad name.

When the GN lost "Downtown" Gordy Brown, they lost one of the best acts
they have ever had. He is a laugh riot (now at the Venetian), and worth
seeing over and over again. Years ago I saw Harry Belfonte at the Nugget.

I paid $7.77 each on 07-07-07 for Caveman tickets for
my sweetheart and myself.

IT WAS THE WORST SHOW I'VE EVER SEEN.
(Sorry Trout)

When we walked into the GN the Timeshare people
swooped down, I told them we were not interested and we
are on the way to see Caveman. The Timeshare people
offered two tickets for Caveman and $50 and we kept
walking. ( I had bought the tickets in advance for the
promotional price). We were probably the only people
at the show who had actually paid for tickets.

Living in town, I've learned, if they are really pushing
a show with billboards, signs on back of cabs or
adds on flatbed trucks, the show is awful.

Totally agree.

Seems word of mouth and good reviews in LVRJ, LV Weekly do the trick.

I am getting lousy comments on the Russian Ice too.

Once in a while even Doc Tom get it right.

Gordy Brown is one of the best shows period. And is at a good price if you
check with vegas4locals or tickets4tonite.
