Post subject: Dutch photographer, RV-trip in the US, looking for assistance
Archived from groups: alt>travel>road-trip (more info?)

Hi there,

I am a Dutch travel writer and photographer (www.oostwestthijsbest.nl) and
will be driving from New York to Seattle by RV from oct 15th till nov 10th -
on assignments for Het Parool, a national newspaper, and Veronica Magazine,
the biggest weekly magazine we have overhere (1,1 million copies).

I would love to stay with Americans as much as possible during my trip. Not
only because my experience shows me that this simply more pleasant than
RV-parks - it will also help me in doing my work! As you may find out on my
website, I tend to focus on people in my articles and photographs. Sharing a
pizza and a beer with some locals is a much better way of gettting to know a
country than staring into a beautiful canyon or taking pictures of a huge
dam i.m.h.o. (and just in case you wonder, I can stay for free at all the
KOA-parks, so this is not about money either!)

Haven't done any planning on my itinerary so far. Probably something like
New England, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa,
Nebraska, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington - but don't quote me on this Wink I want
to avoid big cities during my trip, that's for sure.

Anybody interested in hosting me and my RV (I have a generator, so even a
hookup is not necessary) for one night during this period is kindly invited
to drop me a mail. I'll get back to you as soon as I have
more details on my itinerary.

You'll find more information on me under the info/contact button on my
website.

Thanks in advance for any assistance and looking forward to a great trip!
Best regards from Holland,

Good luck. Most Americans can't afford to travel now due to
the high cost of gasoline! But have a safe trip. Try to
see some of the Appalachian regions (mountains) in MD, PA, VA,
TN, KY, NC along your way. When the leaves change colors (Oct) it is
beautiful!
