Can anyone tell me on which date Easter falls next year, 2006? We don't
want to be cruising then.
Many thanks
Don

In 2006 Easter will be observed on April 16th. That will be the first Sunday
following the first Full Moon following the first day of Spring.

We love to cruise Easter week, or any other week that we can manage to squeeze
in.

Thank you Jean, that's when we wanted to cruise. We learned our lesson last
year. We cruised out of LA to Mexico at the wrong time and it was not too
good. Back to the drawing board. We are doing back-to-back on the Diamond
next month, which will be our 6th and 7th on that ship---I guess we like it.
That will be several weeks after Easter so I hope we are ok.
And you have a great cruise next month.

What's wrong with sailing on Easter? Was it too religious,
not religious enough or didn't the easter bunny make it past
the guards to bring you eggs?

Just wondering what you didn't like about sailing at that time?

I made the same mistake as Don & Lynn a few years ago. Spring/Easter
break means a) crowded ships, and b) lots of kids.

Our ship had a stated (double occupancy) capacity of about 2,000 pax,
which was stretched to 2,800 (3rd and 4th berths utilized). Of 2,800
passengers, 800 were under the age of 18. Nothing exactly wrong with
that, but kids will be kids, and a certain percentage of parents will
leave their sense of parental responsibility at home.

This has three main consequences: 1) a harried, overworked staff; 2)
all the elevator buttons will have been pushed, whether the elevators
are empty or not; and 3) chances of adults getting near a pool or
jacuzzi are nil!

We had a good time as we always do, but prefer to sail when it's not so
crowded.

Hi Ray.
It has nothing to do with religion. I wanted to state it carefully to you so
that we don't look like a kid-haters. In the mean time, How B stated it
perfectly. During spring break, the older kids take over the pools and the
younger ones take over the elevators. We would rather have more peace and
quiet on a cruise. Another problem is that spring break seems to be
expanding to cover all of March and April.
Smooth sailing
Don

OK ... that make more sense. I thought it was Christian
holiday bashing or something.

You are correct about "Spring Break" (yeah ... I am old
enough to remember when it was called "Easter Vacation"
too). My wife works for Alaska Airlines Vacations and they
issued a Spring Break calendar to the agents that started
last week and ends at the end of April.

Coincidentally, the winter airline fare war shut down last
week and the summer war will start about the 1st of May.

Seems like LOTS of people don't like traveling with an over
abundance of teenagers on their own ... but we seem to do it
anyway!

Kinda makes you go hmmmmmmmm!
