Went into my Welsh mode, which always sorts 'em.
That - and Marra - reminds me of the time there when, in French, I said I
was from Pays de Galles and it took some days to convince I wasn't
Portuguese!

ago. All sorts of cheap Jacks were a nuisance there. And I can remember that
thirst when I found my way out from Medina. At a restaurant I sat down and I
was served drinking water in half a litre bottles. I recall I ordered four

Marra is quite hassle-mild and manageable compared with Tangiers, where
they've been brought up on fast kills from the naive Costa day-trippers.
I like(d) Marra a lot, but haven't been back since it apparently became a
weekend hotspot from the UK.

Tunisia is even worse, if you can imagine. I think I met one Tunisian
in a week who wasn't trying to sell me things or rip me off.

In Turkey if you politely decline something they leave you alone. In
Morocco they keep trying but will give up if you are persistent. In
Tunisia they start screaming at you or try to corner you in their shop
