Do you still have an Australian passport? I can see them giving
people a hard time with a US or UK passport. Still, on the Lonely
Planet website a lot of people seem to go there and say it's not a big
deal to get in really.
They are supposed to have some of the best preserved Roman and Greek
ruins outside of Rome and Greece - Leptis Magna, Sabratha, Cyrene. >> Stay informed about: No need to come to Europe |

Your school project theory might be right. Having set up the
personae each year's pupils can then use them to experiment on. Maybe
they're really the projection into our universe of vast
multidimensional hyper intelligent beings. Squeezed in to 3 (or 4)
dimensions I bet they have serious problems trying to think down to
our level. >> Stay informed about: No need to come to Europe |

I don't know if there is really much in the way of sights apart from
the ruins, but it is a completely untouristed country that few
Westerners have seen. >> Stay informed about: No need to come to Europe |

I really want to get to Libya before it becomes like that too.
Unfortunately the visa issues make it a tough place to visit.

Tough, yes. For starters you'll need an intro letter from a Libyan tour
operator (a la Russia).
And also pricey: GBP 100 for a Tourist Visa - and that's from the Libyan
Embassy in London - who, incidentally, don't accept postal applications.
Apply today and come back tomorrow.
Welcome to THE GREAT SOCILALIST PEOPLE'S LIBYAN ARAB JAMAHIRIY (copied
verbatim from the Entry Visa Application Form issued by the Libyan People's
Bureau, London.
Maybe you'd have more joy getting your visa in Rome. Didn't the Italians and
Libyans share a "special relationship" once upon a time?

Well, I have limited interest in ruins, as I'm not an enthusiast and
have seen plenty.
And yes, I still have (and am unlikely to give up) the Australian
passport, but I also have an Italian wife, and no good reason to go
there apart from curiosity.
Is it really such a friendly and interesting place?
