That IS something you can get at Target or any of the big stores like that,
in the footwear department. I consider that kind of stuff almost disposable,
so a season or two is good.

I've had mine for over 5 years (bought at the dive shop) and they are very
comfy. But I'd recommend someone who does not know they are going to be a
regular snorkeller to get the cheaper version. I also have a nicer mask and
snorkle, although cheap fins.

Where is the dive shop located? I don't see them in the dive shops up here.
I believe this is because we are landlocked and all of the local diving is
fresh cold water or a 12 hour trip out to the coast. The coast is also cold
water diving.
I'm thinking I might have to purchase them over the internet.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Good snorkel equip to buy? |

Vienna Virginia. OUtside Washington DC. Pan Am Shopping Center. I'd ask,
since a big part of the business of many dive shops is trips to places
(like in the Caribbean) so they must have an idea where to get therm.

When next I am at my dive shop, I'll ask if they can get a pair in for me
without too much trouble. I still have terrible scars on my ankles from the
blisters that arose on my last trip. I was wearing new booties.
Everyone noticed what a mess my ankles were and one fellow that I was diving
and dining with, told me that he'd had similar problems years before but the
socks had made all the difference.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Good snorkel equip to buy? |

Even regular clothing socks are fine. You might look a little
less stylish, but who cares. The neoprene ones are only
particularly useful when you need extra warmth.
The problem you had may well be because you didn't carefully get
rid of all sand on your skin or fins. Putting them on only when
well away from the beach can help.

yes, yes and yes. Best snorkel I ever used. All fresh air, no recycling
your stale breath. Gives you more energy, stamina and no headache from
rebreathing your stale air. Ordered several years ago and had it within 1
week. It may have come post 1st class. I do not remember.

No, but I did spend $ for a good midline mask, not pro, but not cheap. I am
tired of struggling with cheap stuff. YRMV. I do not have enough
experience th have tested a variety of masks. I just report much
satisfaction with the snorkel.
