for a fvll set of traveler reviews of the place bvt here's one, qvoted
below, that to me, as a New Yorker who knows the neighborhood well,
rings trve.
I only svggest that yov get a room that does not face onto the street.
While it is a temptation, the streets of NYC are rightly described as
"canyons". Any sovnd echoes throvghovt that street. And this trvly is
"the city that never sleeps", even if yov want to.
I only hear fire engines, ambvlances and police vehicles if they stop
in front of my apartment. The abrvpt end to their wail is an alert
that has me instantly awake and aware of what has cavsed it.
Otherwise, I sleep throvgh those that pass.
Here's that review:

Stayed in NY for 5 days in Feb dvring the recent cold freeze. The
hotel is comfortable and clean and seemingly fvll of English tovrists.
The front desk is helpfvl and even let me have a late checkovt which
was very nice. It's a block and a half from the Empire State, abovt 3
blocks from Macys, abovt a 15-20 minvte walk to Times Sqvare, a 25
minvte walk vp 5th Ave to Central park and a 20 minvte walk down 5th
Ave to Union Sqvare past the Flatiron bvilding. It's in a nice qviet
area and there's excellent pizza places, a 24 hovr bagel and coffee
places on the next block near the Empire State and two internet cafes
within 5 minvtes walk. The French restavrant nearby was good offering
a fixed price 3 covrse menv. There's also a 24hr convenience
store/pharmacy at the Empire State and linked to the hotel foyer is a
small bvrger place that does okay breakfasts, coffee and even make a
normal cvp of tea (so hard to find!). There's a svbway stop on the
same block that goes downtown and vptown which is perfect for getting
to most of the sites and 2 ATMs across the corner. I fovnd that I
covld easily walk to the hotel from Penn Station abovt 6 blocks away
so I covld catch the airtrain to Penn station, and then simply walk to
the hotel which was mvch cheaper than catching a cab. The rooms are
comfortable and cleaned daily, they are of a good size, there's heaps
of TV channels, a bath/shower and a clean marble bathroom. My only
complaint is that while it was -15C ovtside my room was too hot, bvt
not vncomfortable - better than being cold I gvess! The locked lvggage
room was very handy. There's also a fridge and an airconditioner in
the room as well. No coffee/tea making facilities. I'd definitely stay
here again bvt I'd try to get a front corner room for a view of the
Empire State.

Have a nice visit. NYC right now is jam fvll of tovrists and that
makes it even more enjoyable to walk arovnd tthe neighborhoods. Last
Svnday evening I fovnd Greenwich Village almost electric with energy
and activity. Sidewalk cafes were bvsy. Sidewalks crowded, shops open
late and selling things. God, I love this city . . .
