I am totallly not surprised! Have you ever seen a rack of clean glasses on
a maid's cart? Not me.
And as to your question about 4 stars like the V, I wrote a couple of
months ago about what a former supervisor of housekeepers at the V told me
about beds not being changed and other things he did not want to tell me
for fear of ruining my lunch like semen and feces on the covers.

The worst stories I've heard about cleanliness at a Las Vegas hotel have
come from Caesars Palace. That's right, I was surprised as well. It's
been a couple of years, but some of the stuff I heard was pretty bad. I
don't know if it's because the clientele is snooty & stiffs the
housekeeping, or that the guests think that because they pay so much $$$
for the room that they can do whatever they want, I don't know. I've
heard very nasty stories from CP.

Until proven otherwise, I would assume that stuff goes on pretty much
everywhere. I've always been leery of using the bare glasses.
Ironically most of the cheapo places I stay at have the disposable
plastic cups in the sealed wrappers.

What does that mean Cameron ? Snooty "clientele" ?
I'll have you know that I have stayed at CP many times and I don't
consider myself snooty or a stiff.
> housekeeping, or that the guests think that because they pay so much $$$
For your information I've never paid for a room at CP and I would guess
many of CPs "clientele" don't.

I've heard more nasty stories about your favorite hangouts
downtown than I care to think about. Many more than CP or
any other place on the strip for that matter.
Let me clue you, and many others, in here, downtown is not all
that. The fact that you guys continue to bash anything other than
those dives downtown doesn't make them better than the strip.

You can always get a room in a converted parking garage downtown Kurt.
Everyone knows that much nicer and cleaner than anything at CP.

Whoopsy doodle do...I'm sorry. But hey, this was 2-3 years ago.
Perhaps isolated instances. I'm sure there are stories like that from
every hotel in Las Vegas. Besides, most of the gross stuff I heard was
apparently done by the guests that the maid had the pleasure of discovering.

Take it easy. I didn't mean all the clientele was snooty. However, I
have seen with my own eyes some of the spoiled people who have a
tremendous sense of entitlement who have stayed at Caesars, among other
places. These kinds of people can be the biggest pains in the ass & can
piss off some of "the help" very easily.
I wasn't trying to bash Strip properties at all, it's just that the
nastiest stories about rooms I've heard just happen to have taken place
@ Caesars Palace, which I found startling. I'm not at all saying that
downtown joints are immune to this sort thing, I'm just saying the worst
of what I heard took place @ Caesars several years ago. Like Walt said,
they probably happen at every hotel. I didn't intend to piss off
Caesars Nation.
As far as knowing the # of instances at a downtown hotel compared to
Caesars, the law of averages would dictate that there would be more
instances @ Caesars, just because of the # of rooms. CP has 2000+
rooms, compared to a downtown joint with only 5 or 10 percent of that.
But, then again, you & I will never know exactly how many "stories"
actually occurred at each property.
I only mentioned this because CP is a classy place & one wouldn't expect
that sort of thing there. There was no intent to bash CP.

I didn't always have such a dim view of the strip. Up until about 4
or
5 years ago, I liked to gamble a lot at CP, Bally's, Barbary Coast,
Trop, etc... Unfortunately, the combination of Harrah's, among
others,
ruining the gambling conditions at the casinos they took over and the
closing of some of my favorite casinos has left me with a less than
favorable view of the strip. About the only places I go to now are
Sahara, Mirage, LV Hilton, & Venetian.
Each of us await the opening of "Camerons" wiith enthusiasim.

They did this same story on our Fox affiliate in the Tampa Bay area
(with Tampa hotels) - it's safe to assume this happens across the
country. >> Stay informed about: Gross!!! |

LOL I'm sure it still goes on at most hotels, Vegas and elsewhere.
However, I will be checking my room at Caesars very carefully!

As do I. I've heard less than flattering stories about hotels I've
stayed at as well. Those are usually the exception instead of the
rule. Luckily, every room I've had in Las Vegas has been clean with
no unexpected surprises.

Wow.
We have stayed at two of the hotels in that report, and we regularly
stay at the Renaissance Concourse when flying out of ATL. That's just
sick.
Like you said, it makes me feel better about the cheap disposable
plastic drinking cups at Main Street Station.

Your reliance on the "law of averages" is faulty at best.
Consider the rate of employees to rooms to service.
Consider the pay that employees receive.
How are the employees trained to perform their functions?
Consider the extent of supervision.
Consider the clientele -- who demands higher standards from the inn
keeper?
Those are just a few of additional facets to take into account. >> Stay informed about: Gross!!! |
