Post subject: Help: Airline Ticket From Los Angeles to Athens for Summer 2007: $1600-1700 About Right?
Archived from groups: alt>travel>greece (more info?)

Hello,

I am planning a trip (first time) to Greece this summer for my family,
August 3 to August 19. I go to Europe only once a year so haven't checked
ticket cost since last summer. To my surprise, and probably not surprisingly
considering higher fuel cost, tickets are a bit more costly than the $1200
roundtrip per person I was expecting. My question is this is now the norm?
Would it get any cheaper if I wait a few weeks? Are there windows where
tickets will get cheaper for my travel dates of 8/3 to 8/19? Thanks in
advance.

(I have a very fixed schedule so I do need to get tickets at some exact time
and date. I have tried orbitz, expedia, cheap tickets, etc. With tax and
fee, the cost always ends up around 1600 or so.)

Regards,
Can

Early August is the worst possible time to visit Greece, and not just
because the tickets are highest at that time. If you can delay your
trip for a month, it would be a lot better.

Thanks. Unfortunately, my time is fixed because of my 2 children & work,
etc. I check and it seems that is the going rate these days. I don't want to
take a chance so went ahead w/ my ticket purchase w/ British Airlines.
