do you know where I can find an independant guide that we could hire?
we are looking to carry our our equipments, and cooking supplies. I

Why ?

Just to save 50 or maybe 100 $ ?

I allways pays extra to have porters carying sleepingbags and other personal
stuf, so the members of my groups only have their daypack (water, raincoat,
camera, candy etc.) to cary.

Best regards
Klaus

Take a look at Latour Company at http://www.latour.com. They have a package including Machu Picchu adn Inca Trail. They offer various private and group tours to Central and South America. This is a very reliable company with the good reputation and excellent service. It looks like you are paying a lot at the first sight but it really saves you money in a long run.
