Larry,
Cameron and I made a walk through of the Plaza last October.
Thankfully, the men's bathroom in the casino has finally been updated,
but the ever present "baggy over the urinal" along with the requisite
"do not use" sign shows that the Plaza's engineering department still
hasn't figured out their plumbing issues. The sportsbook got some
spiffy new red leather couches.
The once recommended Center Stage Restaurant has been replaced by
something called "The Dome" which is now a "sports lounge". Both
Cameron and I didn't like the feel of this room at all. They should
have left this alone.
As for the rooms, we stayed there in 2006 and found the Plaza to be
unacceptable even in the most basic of necessities, including
consistent hot water and even cleanliness. My friends and I aren't
overly picky, but unless the Plaza goes through a major renovation or
management change, we shan't ever stay there again. My personal
recommendation would be to check other properties downtown. The El
Cortez, Main Street Station and Four Queens would offer nicer
accomodations than the Plaza has to offer for about the same price. >> Stay informed about: Info on Plaza Hotel/Casino |

Have you ever seen a site put up pictures of filthy rooms, toilets?
The plaza is okay but don't be sold on a website..... it is a relic, good
security, clean sheets.

Derrr. That should read Fremont, not California. cal has a tiny pool,
Fremont just has bathtubs.
BR, I have heard off and on about the Vegas Club guests being allowed
to use the Plaza. I don't know what the current status is. I do know
I have used the Plaza pool many times while not staying there and
nobody bothered to check for a room key.

In my experience, they're hit and miss. I've had great rooms, average rooms
and bad rooms.
I'm not very picky, but I'd say the rooms at the Plaza are not too clean.
I'd stay there again, but only without my wife and if it was significantly
cheaper than the other alternatives downtown...which is unlikely. >> Stay informed about: Info on Plaza Hotel/Casino |

The fact that everyone has ragged on the place combined even with the chance
the rooms are dirty hasn't convinced you yet? The consensus is Plaza SUCKS
ownership there sucks there is no reason to stay there what so ever. >> Stay informed about: Info on Plaza Hotel/Casino |

As others have said, Golden Nugget is the class of downtown. If there
are ladies in your group, they'd likely prefer GN. Main Street Station
would be a runner-up, maybe Four Queens as well. El Cortez is good,
too, though a couple blocks away from the other downtown casinos.
For just an economical place to sleep, I like Vegas Club, particularly
the North Tower. Rooms aren't fancy but fairly large, and the a/c is
quiet. For some reason, their website is offering North Tower Deluxe
rooms w/1 king bed for the same price as South Tower standard. That's
a good deal. For eats, they only have their coffee shop and a snack
bar, but there are plenty of better dining options nearby.

Yeah, the north tower rooms are pretty decent, especially if you can get
it for chaep or free. I had a room there last weekend comped; didn't
sleep there, just had it as a room to relax in on that end of downtown.
My other room was @ the El Cortez. The room I had @ LVC was #636, was
right across from the California, which looked pretty cool all lit up at
night. The bed was kind of saggy, the couch had a hole in it, but the
rest of the room was fine & clean. The bathroom was in perfect shape,
nothing wrong with it.

Larry,
As I mentioned, neither me or my friends are that picky. The rooms at the
Plaza are hit or miss and unfortunately for me and my friend, ours was a
complete miss. A couple of my other friends agree 100%, but we had others
staying in the other tower who seemed to be in a better condition. Our room
was not clean, dusty, musty and in disrepair. The carpet, especially needed
to be replaced. Noticeable stains and lint were everywhere. And it smelled.
An odd set up with the bathroom, with the vanity outside of the bathroom in
the walk in closet. While I was shaving my buddy was getting scalded in the
shower, so we agreed, no simultaneous using the vanity and the shower.
Where it was most unclean was in the sports book. As I mentioned, they have
freshened things up since we were there, but there were dust and hair balls
everywhere. Like I said, I'm not picky, but when the same hair ball makes an
appearance in a public area, well, that tells you a bit about how the place
is maintained. A couple of my buddies actually had food in this area, but
they're mercenaries.
The choice is yours. If I were you, I would definitely look into alternate
lodging possiblities. After our recent experience, I would never, ever
recommend the Plaza to anyone I know. It's that bad. >> Stay informed about: Info on Plaza Hotel/Casino |

Been a couple years since =Mrs. Trout= and I stayed there, but wasn't that
bad a place then...realistically one ain't in the room all that much-long as
it's clean...
