Is there any information yet on how easy, or difficult, it will be to
transfer at LHR when T5 opens?

At present, I don't need to go through Security when transferring from T1
Domestic to any other Terminal, but I do have to go through Security when
transferring TO T1 Domestic.

Will transfers at T5 - whether Domestic to International or International
to Domestic or International to International - be relatively pain-free or
will everyone have to transit via the Flight Connections Centre, which can
take more than an hour at peak times.

This is a matter of policy. If you have been screened at an airport
in the UK then the authorities are satisfied that you do not pose a
security risk: they have ensured that you are not carrying any
dangerous items and could not have obtained any while passing through
sterile areas that are under their jurisdiction.

However, if you have arrived from another country the UK authorities
know nothing about the quality of screening that you have undergone,
and so you need to pass through security before boarding a (domestic
or other) flight.

There is no reason to believe that this policy will change when the
new terminal opens, and so you may rest assured that you will continue
to enjoy rapid transfers from domestic to international flights,
coupled with a high level of security when connecting from an
international to a domestic flight. And never forget that all these
arrangements are purely for your benefit.

Ask the question again on 7th November, I may know the answer then because I
am one of the T5 trial volunteers for 6th November.

Anyone else from uk.air attending?
