Hiya guys...I am leaving for London England December 9th of this year
which pretty much gives me a couple of weeks to get everything in
order!

I have never been to Europe, Never backpacked and never have I been on
a trip like this by myself.

I am totally freaked out and have no idea if im doing the right thing.
I need all the advice I can get on how to have a good time in Europe
being alone!? Oooor how do I meet people to go with me or meet me there
that sort of thing!?

I also should mention I am going there to work in a pub but as well
travel like crazy on days off/weekends and right before coming home im
taking a month or two to travel like crazy!

Cheers,Dee

Got a ticket? Got a passport? Got a portable bag (preferably a backpack) to
pack your clothes into? You're done. Spend the rest of your time attending
going-away parties and making sure your address book is up to date.

Once you do it, you'll realize how easy it is.

If you're working at a pub, you'll meet plenty of people. If you want to
meet even more, stay at a hostel for a while. You'll hook up with other
backpackers to share a flat with. Commonwealth antipodeans (South Africa,
Australia, NZ, mainly) winter in London while on their round-the-world trips
because they can earn decent money working at restaurants, bars and hotels.
You'll be in good company.

#1 rule to meet people: ALWAYS stay in hostels and ALWAYS stay in
dorms in the hostels. You will have no problems at all meeting people.
Literally everyone is up for a chat and meeting new people.

Don't stress, you're gonna have a ball. I just got home from 5 months
backpacking. I wish I was still over there! London was getting chilly
a week ago... pack loads of warm clothes.

I'm unsure where you're from, but your English is fine. You'll have no
trouble communicating in any European country (Eastern Europe to a
lesser extent, but there you won't have trouble finding English
speakers)...<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Indeed London is bloody freezing at the moment folks. Plus in the last
two week it has rained pretty much non stop.
Tip for you - Best view of London can be found on Waterloo bridge at
night. Trust me mate, it is wicked - I'm a Londoner...I know!!

London is expensive and the weather is shite.

Come here in late May and go to Devon, the Lake district, and
Yorkshire Dales.

On no account go to Birmingham, ever.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Thank you so much guys! I really appreciate the information!

I heard that it was chilly around this time of year so I will have to
go and buy some sweaters and such.

I am leaving a bit later then I thought. January 21st I arrive into the
London airport with a good girl friend of mine.

We are staying at a university dorm for a few weeks and will be
searching for jobs once we get there.

Should be a blast!

If you have any other tips on what to bring or where to hang out as far
as pubs, shopping anything please email me I would love to hear from
you!

Take care boys and again thanks for the tips!

Cheers,
Dee;)
