| Trying to find a cheap flight to Istanbul from London (preferably Heathrow),
and the best I can come up with so far is about £187 return using British
Airways. All the other carriers that are coming up are for European based
airlines. Wondering if there are any American carriers who fly to Istanbul
via London so I can get on for the last leg of the flights journey - if that
is actually possible.

Pan Am used to but the non stops are now just BA and Turkish except
Monday/Wednesday/Friday there is a "Azerbajan Hava Yollary" flight (j2
flight 8 at 1430/2010) from Gatwick and surprisingly it's a 757. I have no
idea who their consolidator is but I'd guess the fares might be reasonable.

There aren't - they fly nonstop from New York to Istanbul.
What's wrong with European-based airlines? Most of them have better
food and service than the American carriers. So does Turkish Airlines
for that matter.
London - Istanbul for 187 pounds return is decent - I doubt you would
find anything better than that. >> Stay informed about: London to Istanbul |

I don't think so, but hey, you never know where you might end up with Northwest!

Less legroom though. And you're not getting any food on a flight from a
European hub to Istanbul - flight's too short. Only on Asian carriers do
they still feed you no matter how short the flight is (had a couple
40-minute flights with full drink and meal service recently - there was
barely time to serve the food and collect it again, let alone finish eating
it).

As someone else said - 187 GBP is a decent price for that - It is a long
route.
They only alternative I know of to get it cheaper is to take a charter
flight (most probably to somewhere else in Turkey) then make your own way to
Istanbul. (But it probably won't go from Heathrow) >> Stay informed about: London to Istanbul |

There's a new low-cost airline called "corendon.com" that flies from
Eindhoven (NL) to Istanbul. Fares start at €29 single. Flights are
actually operated by Fly Air.
Ryanair serves Eindhoven as well. Theoretically you could save a bit
of money by flying Ryanair to EIN and then Corendon to Istanbul,
though obviously there wouldn't be any through ticketing or baggage
check, and onboard service would be nonexistent. You might save £50 or
so, but the hassle would be considerable. >> Stay informed about: London to Istanbul |

British Airways still give you hot food and a free bar service on
pretty much all their London to Europe flights. >> Stay informed about: London to Istanbul |
