Marianne, if you remember you recommended SuperFast to me so we
can take our dog in the cabin.

I have read somewhere on line that you need to muzzle your dog if
you walk on the outside decks. Is that so? I need to know as I
shall have to buy a muzzle. Although I am not happy with doing it
as she is "soft as grease", but if I have to, then so be it.

Can you let me know.

Cheers
JAne

Hi Jane, it was me who recommended Superfast because of "dog in cabin". If
you check "terms and conditions for passengers" on
http://www.superfast.com/Adriatic/English/index.aspx you will find the
following paragraph: "When walking on the open deck pets are required to
wear muzzle and be on a leash, accompanied by the pet owner or guardian. The
pet owner or guardian is held fully responsible for the care, safety and
hygiene of the pet observing all laws and regulations related to the above."
Just to be on the safe side we carry a muzzle for each dog with us but as
they are very friendly and we never travel during high season (with crowded
deck in general and especially in the pool area), we never were asked to put
it on. Leash of course is mandatory for your dog's own safety! Btw., also in
Italy dogs should wear a muzzle in public areas but - as above - we have
these things ready with us in the pockets but never bothered our four-legged
companions to wear them.

Good luck with your dog - but please don't forget that other people may not
share your faith in your own dog.

As you know, maulings by dogs are sadly far from unusual. All too often the
owners will subsequently say that this was 'so out of character', that the
dog is normally ever so friendly and so on. Scant comfort for bereaved
parents ... and so on.

Additionally, everybody on the boat, as well as in the streets of England,
in parks and so on - we should all have the *right* not to feel threatened
by the sight of for instance big Alsatians, or small terriers. Regarding the
owner's invariable assurance about how friendly his dog is: see above.

Hopefully you will feel a bit happier about muzzling your dog knowing that
other people may well feel safer for themselves and their children.

Have a great time in Greece, and do enjoy having your dog with you,

Henry.
