Our first time to NO coming up next month. Wife and I 10/17-10/20 and then
business for four more days for me.
Found this thread after trying to wade through the web. After seeing some
posts by MLF we picked a B&B from bbnola.com The prop. not only made recs
for restaurants, etc. but dinner reservations as well. How does Brennans,
K-Pauls, and Upperline stack up. Good choices for NO first-timer?

Also reccomended plantation/swamp tour and maybe cooking class as well.
Should still have time for walking the parks and the quarter.

Thanks for help getting us started. Way too many choices on the web and no
easy way to choose.

New Orleans is such a fantastic city!!! You will have a wonderful time.
There are so many overwhelming choices of restaurants. My favorite, I
would like to share, (and it's been my recommendation time and time
again).

Jacque-Imos restaurant on Oak St. uptown. Outstanding, uniquely
prepared food, wonderful service. Only downfall is the waiting list.
It can be a long wait BUT surely worth it!! Suggestion-get there for an
early dinner about 6:30 to avoid the mass 7p.m. rush. Your wait will be
minimal and bring your appetite!!!

I take my out of town guests there all the time. Consistantly, a hit
and highlight of their trip.
Then enjoy some N'awlins music entertainment after your dinner next door
at the Maple Leaf.

Have a wonderful first visit!! With it's food, spirits, music, charm
and other indulgences, NOLA is one very seductive place. You will be
back for more.

I heartily endorse Jacque-Imo's. I ate there last Friday and it was as good
as ever. Hint: Get there at 5-6pm and there's no wait at all! After dinner
you can ride the streetcar back to the Quarter and whoop it up.

Any of the Brennan's is a winner (Mr. B's at Iberville and Royal is my
favorite), K-Paul is fine, and Upperline is fantastic (I ought to know - I
live a block away).

I hope you have a good time! BTW: I wouldn't make too many plans. Most
visitors eventually end up on Bourbon Street, hear some music that they
can't resist, and find themselves dancing until dawn. New Orleans is that
kind of place.
