Unless the total price is ridiculously low, I'd shop around!

Why? Gotta be better places to spend your vacation that are almost as
cheap?

I actually stayed there on one of my first trips to Vegas, but that was
back in the 90's when I didn't know there were better options available
at a similar or better price.

What do you plan to do on your trip, and who's going with you? Do you
need to be in that particular location? Will you have a car? More
details would be helpful.

It is what it is---a Motel 6. Nothing fancy, just a lot bigger than most
other Motel 6 locations around the country. Personally, if you looked
harder, you could find some better hotels from Sun-Thurs for a lot less
money. The location however is right off the strip.

Its skeevy. I stayed there one night on a long layover. I can't imagine
staying there for seven nights. Why not spend a little more per night by
shopping around to find a rate at a decent place?

I'm not being a wiseass like some others on this NG, but if Motel 6 is all
you can afford, then you shouldn't be going to Vegas.
I have stayed at Motel 6 several times, but only when my plane arrives at an
airport at midnight and I'm too tired to drive the 75 miles to my house.
Stay home and save enough money to afford better accommodations.

You should have given him some good advice, get on SSI, have
your wife support you and eat at Terrible's.

The amount of money you have does not dictate whether you can have
fun. I've had heaps of fun for less than $25 a day in Vegas.

I think it is also a bit presumptuous to say if he stays at Motel 6
that must be all he can afford. More likely, it is all he wants to
spend on a hotel. I stay in cheap hotels; I can afford more. I have
fun.

Guy,

If this is your first trip to Vegas, as far as having a good time,
it really doesn't matter where you stay.

Again, if it is your first trip, you will be overwhelmed with
everything in Vegas and Motel 6 will just be fine.

I & most of the other posters just believe you can get more
bang for your buck. Try to find a hotel with a casino.

Many first timers who go through travel agencys end up at
Circus Circus, and if it's their first trip they love it, while
most of the AVLV'ers may not take it for free.

Well anyways, the first trip is unforgetable.

I stayed there once or twice about 13 or 14 years ago before I was a
member of any slot clubs. It was ok, nothing fancy, just a place to
sleep and shower. It's right across the street from the MGM, so you
can walk there if you don't have a car. There also used to be a
Carrows restaurant right next door that served some GREAT breakfast
burritos.I don't think it's there anymore tho' Sad

I hope the guy gets back to us with more details on what he's looking
for in his trip to Vegas.

The Motel 6 at Trop and Koval is probably his cheapest option if he
wants to be within walking distance of the Strip, although at about
$437 incl. tax for 7 nights, it's not all that cheap. He didn't say
who he's coming with, but if it's a wife/girlfriend, she might not be
that enthused when she sees the place.

There are some even cheaper accommodations downtown if he considers
that to be an option. If he has a car, Terrible's at Flamingo &
Paradise would be nicer than the Motel 6 and in the same price range.

And the hulking shell of the Tropicana just a bit further. Hooter's
is a bad choice for breakfast these days since the only place that
serves it is Dan Marino's. The menu is quite limited and a bit
overpriced for breakfast.

The Motel 6 is relatively close to the monorail, at least.

Well, more precisely, it's across from the back end of the MGM garage,
which is a half-mile or so from the Strip.

There's a Coco's restaurant next to the Motel 6, although I was not
impressed with my breakfast there a couple years ago. At least the
Hooters casino is only about 300 yards away.
