I actually live in Las Vegas, but haven't been to many of the
museums. My Mother will be coming out for a visit shortly and I
thought it may be nice to go to a few.
Do you have any suggestions of museums that we might like or for that
matter that you didn't like. I have no agenda, so any type would be
fine (educational, fun, interesting, etc.)
Thanks,

The Clark County Heritage Museum on Boulder Hwy. in Henderson. I
haven't been there yet myself, but Thomas liked it and he's from
Europe, where there's no shortage of museums.
And it's only $1.50 ($1.00 for seniors) -- such a deal...

Another place I thought was fun a couple years back was Bonnie
Springs/Old Nevada out past the Red Rock area. They have an Old West
town, a petting zoo and other stuff, and they put on a couple of
entertaining skits during the day. It's all kind of cheesy but still
fun, and the drive out there is very scenic.
Admission when I went was $7 per car load. It's $20/car now but that
includes a $10 coupon for their restaurant.

Rick,
The Atomic Testing Museum on Flamingo at Swenson has a great
collection highlighting both the Test Site and the Cold War.
The Nevada State Museum off of Washington between Valley View and
Rancho has a Las Vegas history collection as well as a gallery on bats
and wildlife in Southern Nevada. We are hosting an Roundtable Event
there Tuesday night that centers on Howard Hughes in Las Vegas.
The Clark County Museum out on Boulder Highway has a Las Vegas history
collection. Outdoors, they also have a variety of houses that have
been moved there from downtown as well as an early newspaper building,
an auto court and a building from Boulder City.
The Las Vegas Springs Preserve on Valley View at Meadows Lane has
walking trails and various galleries about the importance of water and
Las Vegas.
The Lied Natural History Museum is on Las Vegas Blvd North near the
Old Mormon Fort.
They are all wonderful museums!

Being from Europe may have had something to do with my liking this
museum so much. The furnished homes of periods gone by were
fascinating and the items that can be found all over the place are
just a very nice way to spend an hour or two. The price is most
certainly right, too.
My other favorite museum used to be the tiny Gallery at the Wynn which
unfortunately isn't there no more. The Neon Boneyard is more
interesting for people who really like Vegas and its history.
The Guggenheim is usually way overpriced for its small exhibitions, as
is the Bellagio gallery. Then again, these prices tend to be the norm
in US many museums.
Visit the website for the Atomic testing Museum to get an impression
whether you'll like it. It gets great reviews, but has failed to
inspire a visit from me yet.
I've also still to visit the Liberace museum. I'm afraid I might go
blind.

Admission to Guggenheim in Vegas with 37 Modern Masters paintings: $15.
Admission to Louvre in Paris with thousands of priceless paintings and
sculptures spanning the whole of Western culture: $13.34.
Stepping out of a museum onto the Las Vegas Strip: priceless.
Okay, maybe not.

Yes, but the "Looooove" is in France <Hackkk Spitt>
Even at $115 I would opt for the Guggenheim.

The Norman conquest was certainly traumatic, but it's time to get over

The old Vegas museum at the Trop (back before the current owners turned
it into a dump) was wonderful. However, the museum is in storage
somewhere until a new location can be found. >> Stay informed about: Museums Suggestions |

The Liberace Museum is worth a visit. Depending on what's there on
exhibit, the Guggenheim Hermatage in the Venetian might also be
worthwhile. >> Stay informed about: Museums Suggestions |
