Thanks for all the info. I will probably end up buying a 7-day
Metrocard for my NYC excursions (I will be staying near a PATH station
in NJ), and pay the $1.50 for individual PATH fares. (last time I
spent 4 days in NYC and the 7-day Metrocard paid for itself easily. I
gave it away to someone else to use on the last 3 days. This time I
don't want to spend $250 for a decent centrally-located hotel room).
