Good morning,

I strongly deserve holidays, so I just booked a ticket to Sydney because
I love this city and the country ! Smile But it will be a short trip
(arriving 8/11, leaving 8/19).

Since I already know well Sydney and I plan to spend my first and last
day there, I was thinking of going to NZ, Christchurch. Technically, I
could avail of about 5 days. Is it worth for so short ? What could I see
? I would be more attracted by wild and scenic places ? Is it possible ?

Thank you very much

New Zealand - fantastic place and always worth a visit.
Around Christchurch - take a tour to Lyttleton and Akaroa for scenery - or
there is always the Tranz-Alpine train.
Take a run up to Kaikoura to see the whales, Oamaru for penguins.
You could go to Queenstown at a push.

I like Christchurch - but Sydney it is not!

They're chalk and cheese. Christchurch itself is a very small rural city by
comparison. It's a pleasant entry to the South Island, which is a huge
nature resort - not an urban centre. Mt Cook; fiords, the glaciers; the West
Coast etc etc. All need time to enjoy, and I doubt you've got it.

NZ deserves a leisurely 2 weeks at least to become attuned to its relaxing
rhythms.
