We've done a couple of Nile cruises.
Generally the cruises are from Luxor to Aswan and back.
There are optional excursions, which you don't have to take (or pay for), to a
variety of sites along the route by coach.
The visit to Abu Simbel from Aswan was a 3.00am start, but others were at
reasonable times and back to the boat for lunch.
If you want to you can just relax on the boat for the whole cruise. We had a
trip out most days and had a great experience.
We found the accommodation very clean and comfortable and the food and service
good.
There are many tour operators and about 400 boats on the river aparently.
We thought it good value and will go again.
