What's are the cheapest medium to large cities in Mexico for a
tourist to live? I mean cheapest in terms of basic stuff like
rooms/apartments, food, services.

Anyone know of a good accomodation in Nogales Sonora?

I suspect that rent and hired help is a bit cheaper just about anywhere
in southern Mexico, but otherwise you probably won't find much difference in
prices from one city to the next. Prices will get significantly higher in
just about any place with lots of American tourists.

The best way to find accomodations in Mexico is to get on the ground
and ask around. Have you been to Nogales? It's a pretty typical border town.
Mexico gets much more comfortable away from the border and there isn't much
in Nogales for tourists.

I would suggest that the farther south you go, the cheaper it can get to
live. Also, the farther away from large established gringo communities you
get, the cheaper living is. Places like Cuernavaca, San Miguel de Allende,
and lake Chapala have been established for so long, that, pricewise, you'd
be better off to retire in Phoenix....
But, if you're not afraid of living where there aren't a lot of gringos,
Morelia could be a great spot.So could Tuxtla Gutierrez, or even Oaxaca.
Look for info on any of them via google or copernic........Howard felipe

ok, thanks. I was thinking that maybe some of the smaller
satellite cities surrounding Mexico D.F. might be worth a try, but
I suppose they'd have to be a ways away, cuz Mexico City is pretty
high. I want the advantages of a large city without the prices.
