Personally, I have always found the 747s used by the BA to be a bit
too much 'spam in a can'. For a number of years I have avoided -
whenever possible - any 747 flight. If you can get an AA flight with
either the 767 or 777 you might be able to grab two seats by a window.
Which will be much more comfortable than the center seats. My favorite
aircraft for trans atlantic flights is the AA 767-300. The seating in
steerage is 2-3-2, the best arrangement of any long haul aircraft.
Although it is getting much more difficult to find flights with that
aircraft. >> Stay informed about: ORD-LHR: AA or BA? Is one better/cheaper? |

Drop to $400 (~216 GBP)? I would not think so. Not with the current
increase in oil prices. Which we cannot expect to drop any time soon -
and quite possibly - never. I have found it to be worth my effort to
purchase flights early when I can, and thereby get a better seat
assignment. I do not consider it to be a good deal to save $50/$75
(27-40 GBP) and end up with a marginal seating assignment.
However you may feel that it is worth saving some currency; even if
you have to spend the flight listening to the gastric distress problems
of those in the bathroom. Which is located directly behind your seat
back. The one which also does not recline except for about 3". >> Stay informed about: ORD-LHR: AA or BA? Is one better/cheaper? |

I agree... For long haul bus class, go with the airline that has the newest
interior (ie lay flat seats) regardless of aircraft type. For coach across the
Atlantic, nothing beats a 767. Close second is a 777 if you can find an airline
that has a smaller coach section right behind bus class. >> Stay informed about: ORD-LHR: AA or BA? Is one better/cheaper? |

Thanks. How cheap can I expect ORD-LHR tickets to get for February? Is
there a database for past fares? At present the price is 500-600, is

In the past, airlines have frequently run fare specials as low as $299 in mid
January from the US to the UK. Seats are limited and go fast and there's no
guarantee they will this year.
As Clint would say, "Do you feel lucky?" >> Stay informed about: ORD-LHR: AA or BA? Is one better/cheaper? |

AA give more FF miles in coach and have better food.
But BA claim to be rolling out a new IFE system. >> Stay informed about: ORD-LHR: AA or BA? Is one better/cheaper? |

Thanks. I just aske dthis question in another post but as this is
important to me, let me ask again: How cheap can I expect ORD-LHR

Why the new post? We understood you when you said Chicago to London. >> Stay informed about: ORD-LHR: AA or BA? Is one better/cheaper? |

Which flights have this aircraft? I looked at the reservation page but
I don't think you can search by aircraft type. >> Stay informed about: ORD-LHR: AA or BA? Is one better/cheaper? |

First, you enter a reservaion query on aa.com to search for flights (by
schedule or fare)
While looking at the flights offered, you will see a column labeled
"Aircraft Type", You can also select the "View Seats" option from the
"Cabin" column to see what seats are available for reserving. >> Stay informed about: ORD-LHR: AA or BA? Is one better/cheaper? |

You can't specify, but if you go to the AA website and search on a given day and
city pair, the aircraft type shows up in the results. Unfortunately, it doesn't
look like AA is using 767s from Chicago to LHR. Only 777s. There are some from
DFW or RDU to LGW though... >> Stay informed about: ORD-LHR: AA or BA? Is one better/cheaper? |

Too bad, there is no 767 on flights I could consider. They are all 777
or MD80 etc. Where do they fly 767's? >> Stay informed about: ORD-LHR: AA or BA? Is one better/cheaper? |
