Periyar Wildlife park India in mid December, is it worth it?

Hi,

I will be travelling around Kerala in December and was thinking of
going to Periyar wildlife park for a day or two. Reading on a number
of forums and newsgroup though, there seemed to be a negative attitude
to Periyar in December as it was very crowded, you are unlikely to see
any wild life and there are plenty of leeches. Can anyone out there
tell me their opinion on Periyar?

Hi Dan,
I have never been there. But according to a popular guide book
(Outlook traveller - Wildlife Holidays in India) the best time to visit
Periyar is from "September to March, when you can enjoy the greenery
without the rains". This should also minimize leeches.

The recommended way to see wildlife is from a boat on the lake.
