Post subject: Personal effect to New Zealand
Archived from groups: rec>travel>australia+nz (more info?)

If someone wants to move their personal effects, motorbike(s) ETC to
New Zealand, be carefull how you go about this. Some expensive
services that supply a door to door service INCLUDING all customs and
MAF clearances are fine, but as said expensive.

However ther are plenty of moving companies that will, if they don't
have their own containers to New Zealand co-load your cargo. That
could cause a problem.

You will be faced with hight local charges in New Zealand (aprox 115
per CBM if you add in all the add charges) worst case senario and you
have almost no come back. Your cargo will not be released prior to you
paying the bill and if you do not do so within 3 or 4 days after
devaning the container you cargo was in, you will face storage of NZD
7.50 per CBM per night + 12.5% GST.

Ask the right questions before you start as it is not that difficult.

Also note that there is talk about MAF issuing a instructing like
Aquis in Australia, were all Full containers with Personal Effects
will need to be inpected in a specific area. Cost could be rather
large, so seek advise on this.

We have no problem advising on moving your personal effect, all you
need to do is ask (sent an email we do not check
the newsgroup that often).

See ye
