The best places to see the fall colours would be in southern Ontario
or Quebec, but the colour season runs from late September to mid
October. They are usually all gone by the end of October. This year
the colour change has been delayed and the leaves are just starting to
fall. By mid november you are likely to see the first snow fall.

I would never discourage anyone from visiting Vancouver Island because I
think it is beautiful, as is most of BC. Never the less, when someone is
talking about autumn colours I am thinking of the vast hardwood forests of
southern Ontario, Quebec and the north eastern states. As beautiful as
Vancouver Island is, it just doesn't have the same type of forest. I have
heard from Europeans who think they have their own fall colours, but after
following links to their pictures of fall colours, I have to say that they
just don't compare.

You really have to see Ontario and Quebec's fall colours to know hoe
spectacular they are. Last year I was driving to Montreal in early October.
There is a stretch of highway just inside the Quebec border where there was
a forest of maple trees on both sides of the highway. Between the bright
orange, red and yellow of the leaves, the forest seemed to be glowing, even
on an overcast day.

The problem is that they will be long gone until next year. I think the
poster was trying for somewhere that might still have some color.
