Rapists and Robbers have a New Weapon

An American gentleman was traveling by himself on a bus through Mexico. A
nice local man sat next to him on the crowded bus. They began a friendly
conversation and the local man warned the American about the thieves that
prey on travelers. He warned the American to watch out for pickpockets with
razor blades that will slit your pockets and take your wallet and you don't
even know it. After a while on the long bus ride, he took out some homemade
biscuits, took one for himself, started eating it and offered some to the
American. The American took one of the biscuits and started eating it. The
next thing the American remembered was waking up in a drugged state of mind
on the side of the road. His money, his clothes, his luggage, everything was
gone.



There are many different drugs that can be added to food or drinks that are
odorless and tasteless, yet can knock you out cold. Often called "date rape
drugs" these drugs are used by criminal people for drug assisted sexual
assault, rape and robbery. Both women and men have been targeted. Women are
often drugged and raped. Robbery of drugged women is less common. Men are
most often targeted for robbery with the date rape drugs, but they too have
been victims for sexual assault and rape. Sometimes the male in a couple or
family will be drugged to get him out of the way so that the thugs can do
what they want with the female or other family members. Some of these drugs
are liquid and can be carried in an eyedropper container. They are quickly
and easily be squirted into your drink when you are not watching your drink.



When you are out on the town or even at the hotel cabana, never leave your
beverage unattended, and never take drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) from
strangers. Since Rohypnol and GHB, two of the most common "date rape" drugs,
are odorless, and often colorless and tasteless, they can get slipped into
drinks easily and go unnoticed. Only accept drinks from bartenders or
waiters, and try to watch them pouring. At parties, pour your own. And
remember, it is not just drinks that you have to watch out for as the
American gentleman learned the hard way. Watch out for drugs in food
