Manchester airport
Manchester Airport is a large and busy airport with international and domestic arrivals. The airport has a rail station connected to the main rail network and is a convenient way to reach the city centre. The airport has three main terminals so if you are driving, secure Manchester airport parking is available both on and off-site for your convenience.

Driving to Manchester
Manchester is served by excellent motorways. The M62 links Manchester with Leeds; the M6 links Manchester to Birmingham in the south and the Scottish border in the north; the M56 links Manchester to Chester and North Wales; the M61 links Manchester with Preston and the M60 is a ring road around the city.

Distances from major towns:

Birmingham 89 miles
Blackpool 50 miles
Cardiff 187 miles
Chester 38 miles
Edinburgh 213 miles
Glasgow 214 miles
Hull 99 miles
Liverpool 35 miles
London 204 miles

Manchester coaches
Coaches operate from the coach station at Manchester Central at Chorlton Street with regular coaches operated by National Express. (08705 80 80 80)

Manchester trains
The main stations are Manchester Piccadilly with regular trains arriving from London . The best journey time is just over 2 hours and expected to become faster and more reliable as the train line to London is being upgraded. A second station for northern and local routes is at Manchester Victoria.

The information listed by shaneyward is very nice and one can see that there are so many things to see in Manchester and surrounding areas. If one head over to North Wales or up to Cumbria then he can enjoy good roads and escape from the city traffic of Manchester. A year back I did some of the drives by renting a car from http://www.carshireuk.com and it was a wonderful experience. This company offered me a good car at very reasonable prices and it was an amazing deal.
