Post subject: Refund on Deutsche Bahn ticket ?
Archived from groups: rec>travel>europe (more info?)

I recently booked a ticket at www.bahn.de from Bremen to Basel in
April. Unfortunately, my trip can no longer go ahead so I need to
cancel the ticket.

The notes on the ticket say "Volle Flexibilität, Erstattung ab dem 1.
Geltungstag 15,00 EUR" which Google translates as "Full flexibility to
seek reimbursement from 1st day of validity: EUR 15.00". As I'm
functionally illeterate in German, I assume this means:

(a) I can cancel the ticket and get my money back. less a 15-Euro fee
(b) I have to wait until the day of travel to do so

Point (a) seems fair enough, but point (b) is a bit of a poser. Would
anyone here have an idea of the correct interpretation of the German
and possibly also experience of getting a refund from Deutsche Bahn ?

Thanks in advance

Nick

I would read it as you only get € 15 back after the first day of
validity.

I've not had any personal experience but I believe they're pretty good
at refunds.

It's quite a hard thing to notice. It keeps slipping back into German
at important points. (if you'll excuse the pun)
