Yeah I figured out that www.lva.com was a bum link. I actually did run
across that book a while ago on a search for vegas info. That was also
kinda part of the reason why I asked about Binion's Ranch in a
previous post because I saw the 2 for 1 coupon and that in its self
would pay for the book. But, since I have been looking around at
reviews and from some of the info on here it sounds like that place
has gone down hill- maybe the reason for the 2 for 1 coupon?? On
another note about steaks, I hinted at my friend about going to
Delmonico's and the cost of it and he dug his heals in about paying
$100 for a meal or anything close to it so I guess I am either on my
own on that one or we aren't going (I'm sure were not going). Anyway
back onto topic- I am going to take another look at the book tonight
and see if it would be worth it for me to get it and then get rid of
the book after my vacation or just say screw it. Since this is my
first trip to Vegas I'm thinking that we may just kinda wing it and
just go and do what we feel and eat whatever whenever and not really
plan anything out other than going to the Hoover Dam. I really would
hate having to feel like we have to go to a certain place and play or
eat just so I can justify the cost of the book..

It is still in effect among the majority of AVLV posters.

Another book, the American Casino Guide, has the Binion's 2-for-1
entree coupon along with many others, and it's a lot cheaper than an
LVA membership.

http://www.americancasinoguide.com/Store/Coupons-2008.shtml

Order thru the link on this page and you'll help out Matt Weatherford's
helpful CheapoVegas site...

http://www.cheapovegas.com/acg_coupons.php

One of my favorite deals from my last trip was the 2-for-1 menu item at
Ellis Island. My Dad and I both had their King-cut Prime Rib, which
comes with soup or salad, green beans, choice of potato, and their
in-house micro-brew or root beer. The prime rib was very good and our
total bill was under $12 plus tip. Sounds like your buddy would go for
something like that.

Some of the ACG and POV coupons are not valid on Friday, Saturday, or
holidays. (The Ellis Island 2-for-1 is valid every day.) If you have
any questions about individual ACG coupons, just ask.

You might also be able to use some of the free, printable coupons on
this site...

Matt,

Taken only as a "coupon book" source, subscribing to the Las Vegas
Advisor is probably not a winning proposition. The American Casino
Guide would fit the coupon book bill for less $$. But I've been a LVA
subscriber for more than 10 years because I am a degenerate Las-Vegas-
aholic -- I love to get the newsletter in the mail every month and to
have free roam of the LVA member-only forums. It's about the best
place I've found to research Las Vegas shows and dining -- no offense
to the fun cast of characters here! In fact some of the most valuable
posters there post here too Smile

I think the Advisor is a good value (magazine, forums, and POV
combined) if you go to Las Vegas more than once per year and
especially if you rent a car there.

Regards,
Amy

Certainly among the smarter ones.

I am enjoying the Shun more than ever. The unanswered questions... the
ignored invitations.... the overt lying hoping for a response... the
"challenges" to the group that again, go ignored.

You can almost taste the desperation.

Thanks for all the replies- I think this trip I am going to do it w/o
a book. We are renting a car but I already chose a upgrade coupon (and
applied it to the reservation) over money off because I managed to get
a midsize car from Enterprise for like 14 bux a day, so with the
upgrade we can get a full size for that price. I figured a upgrade
into a big car over saving a few bux was worth it as I am 6'4" and the
economy cars are sometimes a tight squeeze.

Sounds like a good plan -- I hope you have a ball!

FYI, the car comes into play with the POV not because you use a coupon
from it to save money on the rental, but because you need a car to hit
some of the locals casinos that make up the bulk of the valuable
coupons in the POV. Either that or you waste all your savings and then
some taking a $40 cab ride out the Red Rock Station for a 2 for 1
buffet.

Funny it would be you, Gorge.

I imagine that if the two of you hugged, it would send off a sonic boom from
New Orleans to Baker. My guess you both eat in a pig's bin.

I guess what you are saying is that when providing a link to a resource on
the world wide web, the link should actually take the visitor to the
website in question?

It's a radical concept Walt, but would probably result in a significant
reduction in douche-baggery.

I just got around to reading this thread and imagen my surprise to see
"Tom in Ct" mentioned in it, betting green for the dealers. By the way,
G has invited 120 people to her birthday party next week, if anyone will
be in Ct. let me know. Tom in Ct
