That's OK. We stole John Lennon, Sir Lawrence Olivier, Liz Taylor, Bob
Hope, Elton John (most of the time), and Craig Ferguson just became an
American citizen. Word is Daniel Day -Lewis may soon become an American
citizen too.

They can have Madonna.

So there.

That was a bit below the belt knowing I can't hold, let alone swing, a
baseball bat

You could be a pitcher, like the bowler in cricket. With the American
League's "designated hitter" rule, another player would serve as your
batsman.

There actually was a one-handed American League pitcher back in the
90's named Jim Abbott. He played 10 years and had a pretty successful
career, even throwing a no-hitter, a feat accomplished by very few
pitchers.

And lets also not forget Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown, who made it into the
Hall of Fame.

More here, including photos...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mordecai_Brown

He was only missing an index finger, although that's obviously a key
finger for pitching.

Also of note is the six-fingered, six-toed Antonio Alfonseca, most
recently of the Phillies.

I wonder if that has any relation to the fact that this was one of the
- if not, THE - lowest rated and watched Oscars of all time?

Which one was that? Was that the one where the guy streaked across
the stage?

I can't make any promises about Madonna, but I'm very happy with the Gwyneth
Paltrow/Anthony Hopkins swap.

I believe David Niven was at the podium when that guy ran across the
stage. After the guy ran across the stage, Niven said "Isn't it
fascinating to think that probably the only laugh that man will ever get
in his life is by stripping off and showing his shortcomings?"

No disrespect intended, but should I know who he is?

"Word is" doesn't count.

Add David Soul & Terry Gilliam.

We're eyeing up Kevin Spacey, too (but really, he's just in the Elton john
category at the moment).

It was Colin Welland's acceptance speech for "Chariots of Fire" in 1981.
