Snow Flurries Delight Passengers on Princess Ships

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (December 14, 2007) - Princess passengers find
themselves in a winter wonderland as snow magically falls in the
ship's atrium. A new holiday feature on Princess ships, the daily snow
flurries are adding to the holiday atmosphere on December sailings.
The innovative snow-making process creates falling flakes that vanish
on contact, letting passengers enjoy the romance of a winter snowfall
without the need to bundle up. Princess' daily snowfall is delighting
passengers on all ships with multi-story atriums, adding to the merry
atmosphere across the Princess fleet. Trimmed from stem to stern in
holiday décor - even including a Christmas tree on the vessels' masts
- the ships reflect the season with a variety of festive onboard
activities.

I think the last thing any passenger from the Northeast or Midwest would
want to see is snow..

My guess is only the kids are delighted. I sail the Caribbean in Dec.
to get away from snow & ice. The only frozen liquid I want to see is in
a glass with some rum over it.

For the record, not being Christian, I personally dislike seeing the
ship covered in Xmas decorations, with green cones to look like trees
on the dining room tables, a big Xmas tree in the main atrium [or
whatever they call it] and coloured wreaths and garlands all over the
blasted ship. Actually, having just been through a blizzard, snow
flurries that melt on contact on a cruise ship don't faze me... but I
do NOT like a ship that plays nothing but Xmas music over the
loudspeakers, has Xmas music at all the shows during December, and in
effect ignores the non-Christian passenger's view totally.

Exactly. Those babbles have nothing to do with Christmas or Christians, or
the spirit of the season. And yes, the big tree in the Atrium is called a
Christmas tree.

Christmas, with its spirit of giving, offers us all a wonderful opportunity
each year to reflect on what we all most sincerely and deeply believe in - I
refer, of course, to money. -- tom lehrer

So, let the raucous sleigh bells jingle,
Hail our dear old friend Kris Kringle,
Driving his reindeer across the sky.
Don't stand underneath when they fly by.

I think you are preaching to the wrong choir. If you'd like to see a
more inclusive cruise during the holiday season, then say so to the
appropriate cruise line home office. Those of us at rec.travel.cruises
can do nothing to rectify the situation. Contact someone who can.

The ship decorations and music are just like back home in US cities,
towns, and shopping malls. It would be idiotic for it to be otherwise
or expect it to be otherwise on ships sailing out of US ports that
serve the US market during the Christmas holiday period.

Also I don't think to quote you that the decorations "in effect ignores
the non-christian passenger's view totally". There are no nativity
scenes and the like. What they put up are festive holiday decorations.
