Any ideas on what it might cost PVG>Hangzhou via taxi this time of the year?

I was wondering if 600>700 might work?

Thanks, s

I don't know what the time of the year has to do with it.

I know someone who took a taxi the other way, Hangzhou to PVG, in
October 2007. He said it cost about US$200, which would have been
about 1500 RMB.

I know that in Yunnan and other places in China you can rent a
car+driver for around 400 yuan/day, so it might be possible to find a
taxi driver willing to do the trip for 600-700 yuan. Just guessing
however.

Alfred or anyone else that wants to take a shot: We are arriving PVGon the
18th around 1000. My original goal was to "see" Shanghai. After doing some
reading I thought it might be cool to put Hangzhou into the mix but what
I've ended up with is about a day and a half Shanghai.
My thought process tells me less is more but do I want less of Hangzhou
and/or is a day and a half enough to get a the obligatory glance at
Shanghai?
Fire away. Thanks, s

How fast do you move? We were not able to "do" the Bund, Nanjing
Road, Pudong, the Shanghai Museum, the Old City, and the French
Concession in just two of the four days we were there. We stayed at
the Pacific Hotel which is just north of People's Park, making it a
very central base for playing tourist.

If time is short, skip Hangzhou and concentrate on Shanghai. Hangzhou is
way overrated and Shanghai has so much more to offer. See here some
photos of Shanghai and Hangzhou:

Thanks for the input. Shanghai it is. I could smell the toast burning and
all I needed was a shove. Less is more!
