Hi all,

I am planning to travel to the above locations this July for a month
with a friend and we are looking to stay in youth hostels and similar
budget places (hostels, etc...). Can anyone give me an idea of what
budget we should set aside roughly per night?

Many thanks,

Claire.

In both you can budget high or low as you wish. I'm heading
to Bangkok next week.

I need to be close to the Airport in Bangkok so I will be at
the 13 Coins Grand Airport for a single room at about US$45
per night. Reports in tripadvisor before Christmas were
good, since then are poor. So it could be interesting.

If you want to stay closer to town there are many good
hotels available in the $40-100 range.

In Cambodia I am staying here:
http://www.talesofasia.com/cambodia-twodragons.htm for a
little over twenty dollars a night. Looks good and the owner
seems OK from the emails, ask me afterwards. I'll be back on
the group in May.

I'm flying to and from Siem Reap; how are you getting there?

Cheers, Alan, Australia

In Thailand motels charge around 300-500 bahts a night. Decent hotels around
500-3000 bahts a night. In Bangkok and particularly on islands money buy
less. I guess it is around the same in Cambodia. If one necessarily wants to
live without hot water and aircon then 100 bahts or so will do.

How much would be the conversion of dollars to bahts by the way?
