There certainly is - the Queensland Rail tilt train runs from Brisbane
to Rockhampton, and IIRC the Sunlander (the train from Brisbane to
Cairns) stops at Gladstone as well. It takes roughly 6 hours to travel
from Brisbane to Gladstone.

Melbourne only

within NSW as well as from SYD to BNE and MEL (although for how much
longer is the topic of rabid discussion on aus.rail ).
