We are travelling to BC for two weeks in June. We are going to finish
our vacation in Vancouver for two to three days. Do you think someone
could get around Vancouver by foot, public transportation or bicycle
if they stayed inthe downtown area near Stanley Park? Also does
nayone have any suggestions for hotels in Vancouver? I found one
called the Sylvia has anyone heard anything baout that one? Thanks
for your help.

The Downtown area of Vancouver is perfect for walking, or for short
rides on public buses. They cost $2.25, and a ticket is good for 90
minutes; you can also buy a Visitor Pass for the entire day. You can
ride on the SkyTrain rapid transit system to the south-east suburbs, or
the SeaBus to the North Shore area.

The area is also ideal for bicycles, but there are only a few rental
places. Make sure you get a good lock from the rental shop!

There are also "jump on-jump off" tourist bus / trolley coach tours that
start from Downtown and circulate between the most popular attractions,
including museums, art galleries, the Planetarium, etc.

Tourism Vancouver is the place to start.

And YES, the Sylvia Hotel is a fine, slightly old-fashioned place, right
on the beach at English Bay and only 3 blocks from Stanley Park.
