West Africa itinery

Hi,

Would like to visit West Africa for a month in February
and could use some advice on a possible route. I was thinking
fly into Dakar (Senegal) and return from somewhere like Accra
(Ghana).

Is this a realistic route? Suggestions? Any feedback
appreciated. US citizen if visas are a problem.
