My wife and I would like to use Yangshuo (River Li) as a base from which to
explore the countryside. We would like to stay in something like an inn
rather than a mainstream tourist hotel. Language is not a problem as my
wife speaks Mandarin and Cantonese. Thanks in advance.

Rick

Hi Rick,

I'm also preparing a trip to Guanxi next summer and I found that one
http://www.abstraction.org/rr Never been there but LP guide has good review.

Have a good trip,

Daniel from Montreal

In article <fObSd.8564$mO6.7345@fe07.lga>, Rick says...

Just show up there, as there are tons of places to stay in Yangshuo. You
shouldn't even need a booking.

You can stay anywhere in this place and everybody speaks English.
For USD 8,00 go to the Faulty Towers Hotel for 40,00 go to the 4 stars.
Just Google and see the hundreds op links.

Lovely place though!

Just keep in mind that Yangshuo is about as un-Chinese as you can get
without leaving China. If you're there for the surrounding areas then
you won't be disappounted in them, but Yangshou itself isn't somewhere to
spend too much time...

I'm not sure anyone in Yanghou actually speaks Mandarin or Cantonese -
they all speak english (or at least, something which sounds very similar
to it)

I know some other places, they surely can beat Yangshuo.
HK for example

They also speak Italian, German, Spanish, Dutch, French and some other
languages.
All "very well"

But if you look for McDonalds or KFC, there are other places in China where
you can find more of it.

Don't forget to pay ( > 100 Yuan) to the "old man with the 2 cormorants" on
the Yangshuo quay.
Otherwise no picture.

Jokes apart:
Visit the KungFu training centre in one of the backstreets of Yangshuo
And make sure it isn't raining when you make a trip on the Li river.
