Post subject: What are the benefits of a Eurail pass?

I am planning a short vacation in Europe. Just trying to plan early and figure out my budget because I'm already saving for it. I will be traveling by train from Madrid, Barcelona, and Santiago de Compostela, as well as to smaller cities. Confused about the benefits of buying a Eurail pass. Just wondering which would be better option to get the global Eurail pass or pay as I go. Looking for different opinions or experiences before I make my decision.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
