Hello All!
What do European people know and think about Ural (the Ural mountains,
the border between Europe and Asia)? If European people were in
Ekaterinburg, what would be interesting for them to see? Can
Ekaterinburg be known only as the place where the last Russian Tsar
and his family were killed by the communists?

Dmitrij

I know the border is located at the km 1777 of the transiberiana railroad.
There is a stele marking the exact border point. The Ural looked to me more
like hills than real mountains as seen from the train.

You were in Russia as tourist or as businessman?
What impressions on Ural have you else?
Were you in Ural mountains, caves, national parks? What about Ural
nature?
My friend said that many people who were interested in Russia and fond
of traveling preferred to communicate with people that can knew places
of interest and could show them, not with tourist agencies.
How can I find people who have been to Ural once at least ? Does it
more interesting to travel about South or Pre-Polar Ural? What are
curious places?
May be Ural indeed little known in other countries?
Are there any tourist agencies in Europe, (in France, Germany, Italy)
which are interested in traveling about Russia? What places in Russia
are the most popular with European tourists?

All the agencies in the USA seem to be run by Russians, for obvious
reasons.

Traveling to Russia is not easy. Just now there are signs in places
like the Moscow metro in English (so I am told). Outside of Moscow
and to a lesser extent St. Petersburg no one speaks English, or any
language other than Russian. So, my point is, almost every visitor to
Russia stays in Moscow or St. Petersburg. Only a small minority
travel outside these cities.

It sounds like you want to start a tourism business in Yekaterinburg.
Do you have a website? People can travel there by plane or train,
and you can offer them services of guides and translators. I know
people who provide such services in Volgograd. Take lots of
photos of the scenery & architecture and display them on your
website. I want to visit Yekaterinburg maybe in a year and I am
sure there are other people, too.

Dmitri - privet ! - I don`t know where Europe finishes - probably two
metres from the Volgogradskiy naberezhnye - but I hear that Russia
finishes outside the Garden Ring. Smile)))))

Which is a great pity....

Casey, no one goes outside of Moskva and Piter because there isn`t a lot
there, to be honest - plus - as you say, the Cyrillic alphabet.

Few
enough people go to Moscow and St Pete, anyway.. Russian visa
situation. This is one area where Ss Cyril and Methodius are blameless.
